Hydroponic or Aquaponic home gardening

Hydroponic or Aquaponic

The hydroponic system grows plants in a medium of gravel, a variety of fibers, or sand. Mediums which allow plant roots to fasten and anchor. No soil is used. No digging, no weeding, no pests, and usually no diseases as the mediums are sterile. Plants receive their nutrition from water and a blend of mixed fertilizers which are absorbed through the roots.

The aquaponic system grows plants in a medium of water and fish. Soil is replaced with water and the fish waste products provide natural fertilizer for essential plant nutrients.  No spading, no weeding, no pesticides, and no additional fertilizers are needed.

The fruits and vegetables are healthy, tasty, and nutritious. Just feed the fish.

Use Doggie Treats

We the people are guilty of having a sweet tooth which can be satisfied with a cookie or two and likewise we share it with our favorite pet; our doggie.

Human cookies are not the best treats for our dogs. These cookies contain too much sugar. It would be a better choice to use recipes designed for doggie treats.

The rule for human beings also applies to our pets. Do not overindulge. It is a treat for a special situation. Use doggie treats sparingly. If a treat is used too often it will not become an effective tool for dog training or for any special situation requiring a reward.

Provide a variety of treats for your doggies. Review Bake A Dog A Bone on the home business page of http://www.Infotrish.com  Discover wonderful recipes for your favorite canines.

Wake up artists

I am speaking directly with artists in this write-up.  Wake up!
It is time to get creative with what you have on hand. Take whatever hobby you have and get to work creating a new look. These times may be financially tough or mentally worrisome; however, this is not the time to give power to excuses or negative thinking.  Apply your talents to new ideas. Start new construction or new projects.

Allow me to help you think.Do you have?

  1. A project which you started years ago and never finished
  2. A new invention which was never completed
  3. Ideas for new products or new services
  4. Time to experiment with your creative thoughts
  5. Challenged to create from recycled items
  6. New interests which are birthing and need to be nurtured

Keeping our minds and our bodies occupied with activities or action which uses our talents is vital for our lifestyles. Keeping our creativity active is our lifeline to maintain self sanity and readiness to face our daily lives.

The most important “thing” which will emerge from this activity is a new positive path for a personal or a business opportunity. And it was all because of a hobby.

Write your post here.

Attention human beings

It is a new near year requiring new thinking for a new beginning. I realize the world is seemingly unstable, however, pull up your boot straps, knock the dust from your eyes and take the imitative and the time to see clearly.

Pull your brain out of the muddy waters, rinse well, and start constructive thinking.

Regardless of whether you consider yourself an artist or not; the reality remains that everyone is creative. There are creative people who cause progress to forge ahead and there are creative people who maintain progress. Regardless of the type of artist that is within you…start now.

The artist within you is your passion. Let this be the year that your passion comes alive. Develop your art for personal or financial survival. Work your passion. Love is very uplifting. And it is through your artistic or craft abilities that a positive world of hope will open.

The truth remains that it is up-to-you to maintain your lifestyle. You truly cannot depend on anyone else to do it for you. Master yourself. Do not let others master you.

During the Christmas celebrations there is an increase of families adopting puppies and kittens for their families.

Please consider family discussions before purchasing a puppy or a dog. Make sensible decisions about the pet you are bringing into the home.

  2. What breed type and temperament will be right for children and elderly family members?
  3. Will it be an indoor or outdoor dog?
  4. Are all puppy or dog supplies and needs in readiness?

New Year Greetings

To my knowledge New Year celebrations occur worldwide. The dates may not always be on January 1, but a new year is celebrated. We all want the opportunity to explore new hopes and have faith in improvement.

I would like to wish all of you a wonderful new year. May the next year meet your wishes and expectations?

It is that time when many of us review the good, the bad, and the ugly of the passing year. It is a time to review our defeats and successes.

The next question is: What do we want to do for the year 2012?

What are our goals, desires, and other expectations of our self?

Time is a valuable commodity how do we want to spend it?

I enjoy learning and doing new hobbies. Some are for pleasure, some are for an income. Hobbies open opportunities for learning, meeting new people, opening doors of interests and excitement, traveling to new places, and time activity.

Review our website. If nothing interests you at this time, check back periodically. Next year more will be added to this site. Infotrish is always on the move.

A Hobby Adds…

A hobby adds love, fun and happiness for a longer and more fulfilling life. Take a few minutes at this time to think about the benefits of a hobby. Love, friendships, fun activity, self accomplishment, compliments and praises, relaxing and so many more wonderful reasons for being alive and living with passion.

Think back to when you were a child playing with your favorite toy or experiencing an imaginative trip to anywhere you wanted to go. During these times of play and escape your world was enjoyable and fun.

Hobbies will keep your mind sharp, alert and active, less chance of getting Alzheimer’s disease. Why do you think so many senior citizens complete a crossword puzzle as a daily assignment or activity? Have you begun to notice that people keeping their mind and their body busy seem to outlive those who lack pursuing any interest?

Researchers who have studied the brain find that our brain pleasure center lights up whenever we are complimented or praised. These pleasurable sensations happily fight off illnesses. A hobby adds the fuel which keeps the pleasure center active.

Humans need love and praise. We accomplish so much through our hobbies which we share with our friends and relatives. Our hobbies bring happiness and pleasure for both self and others. It is this elated feeling of joy, kindliness or love which nurtures our being and gives us zest for passionate living.

Allow yourself to drift thinking about what makes you happy. Write your thoughts on a sheet of  paper immediately. Do not analyze. Now, review your happy list.

Make a list of your interests and hobbies. One or two is all you will need to get started. Because a hobby adds enthusiasm for living, selecting too many can overwhelm and create stress on your time and skills.

There are hobbies for indoor and outdoor activities. Hobbies can be sublime to extreme. Fun hobbies abound, action hobbies are available. You might consider the craft hobbies. There are local, state, national, and international hobbies.

Visit hobby stores or hobbies shops, hobby centers, craft centers, recreational and leisure centers, sports stores, online stores, and hobby people to gather hobby ideas.

As you shop around for your ultimate hobbies you will gather many new interests, new friendships, see new things, visit places you have never seen and opened your eyes to both the expected and the unexpected. At the end of the day you will experience new ideas, situations, and people who have made your day worthwhile.

Video on Demand Making Jewelry

Benefits of learning jewelry making from a home study course delivered by video on demand are:

  • An affordable method of attending classes
  • The least expensive method to make handcrafted beaded jewelry
  • Making expensive gifts for less monies
  • Getting one-on-one education
  • Learning at your individual pace on your convenient time schedule
  • Repeat the video as often as needed
  • Easier to learn than analyzing patterns and diagrams
  • Advance from beginners to advanced levels as you desire
  • Classes are not always available in your community

One extremely important benefit of learning jewelry making with video on demand is attention to detail Jewelry making is close work within the area of the palms of your hands and fingers. The camera with its zoom lens is able to magnetize the work area giving you an incredibly detailed picture at the work site.

Christmas gift ideas for this season

Give a gift of a hobby this year. Share your hobby or business interest.

There are many stories which I have heard whereby a person got interested in a hobby because a friend or a family member purchased a kit, a lesson plan, or tools.

Give a gift of paints, paint brushes, quilting supplies, cooking and baking kits, golfing supplies, jewelry kit, sporting supplies, tools, and so much more.

I realize a sweater is a nice warm garment or a blouse or a shirt adds to the wardrobe. But a hobby opens a new world for the gift receiver to enter.

Let the new year open with a change in interests or lifestyle.

Season's Greetings

Pet Diarrhea and Vomiting

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all that celebrate this special occasion at this time of the year. Because of the over indulgence during the holiday season our pets may sometimes also eat too much or eat seasonal foods which are not agreeable to their systems. And it is not very pleasant when our pets take ill for these special holidays. I thought it important that as a warning to pet owners that I include a bit of information concerning diarrhea and vomiting.

It is not uncommon for pet diarrhea and vomiting to occur occasionally. It is usually the results of eating something which was not agreeble to their digestive system.

During special holidays or special events which we celebrate, pets as well as ourselves over indulge in treats or have exposure to food or drink which is not suitble or agreeable for our bodies and we get sick.

Our body and the body of our pet reject these ill, foreign or undesirable substances with diarrhea or vomiting or both. For a short period of time this is okay. Should it last too long both human and pet need to seek medical care.

As first aid prevention you may wish to check our our pet care section and review Veterinary Secrets Revealed as well as Emergency Pet Care at http://www.Infotrish.com

Golf Instructions - Why Take Golf Lessons?

I do review web pages to see where my original articles help other companies or individuals. This morning I came across this article so I thought I would include it in today's blog. It appears to be popular.

Why not take golf instructions? And while you are at it why not take golf instructions from a professional golf instructor? See yourself mastering the game of golf.

The other day I was listening to a program about acting, and I entered the middle of the interview where the emcee asked, what made you two actors exceptionally suitable for the roles which made it seem so natural and real to make the story line become so realistic to the audience? And do you improvise the script or memorize it?

They not only answered the questions pertaining to their acting abilities, but to other accomplished and successful actors who share the same educational background of formal classical training in theatre and stage. They validated that education and training are valuable.

And if you research an outstanding and excellent golfer the same will be discovered. They took lessons from professional golf instructors. The golf instructors can be found where you play golf. Do not hesitate to attend their classes. When playing on the golf course ask the golf instructor for an evaluation of your golf swing and other areas which need improvement. Be open to receive constructive criticism.

There are pros and cons as to learning with video instructions. You will discover that there is much to be learned from the video. One tremendous advantage is being able to replay and listen to the instructor until you truly understand the lesson which is being taught.

I had an experience in a teaching situation where a few blind people had attended the class. I discovered that the blind people were following my instructions directly and those who could see kept asking me to repeat what I was demonstrating. I learned a very valuable lesson that day. Visual people do not listen.

Likewise, when viewing a video, regardless of the subject matter, listen. The instructor is telling you what to do, but your visual intake is distracting you from the words of instruction.

Why take golf instruction? Here is a checklist:

  • Learn basics of golf correctly.
  • Learn about the golf game.
  • Learn about golf equipment.
  • Become familiar with golf terminology.
  • Learn how each type of golf club is to be utilized.
  • Learn how to hit the golf ball a greater distance.
  • Learn how to improve your golf swings, pitching, chipping, driving, takeaway, downswing, and others.
  • Learn about fitness, stance, posture, and other biomechanics.
  • Become familiar with golf drills and other practice methods.
  • Learn how to shave strokes off your score.
  • Learn timing, eye positioning, and focusing.
  • Learn how to be still and quiet to maintain control.
  • Learn how to correct your mistakes.
  • Learn to be more consistent.

An instructor of golf will help you to learn this checklist in a matter of days. It would take you months trying to learn by trial and error. I am sure you know it would be more expensive in time, money, and frustration. Be kind to yourself.

Discover the values of professional golf instructions. Visit the sports section of Infotrish at http://www.Infotrish.com and review the Golf Swing Book which will take your game to the next level.

New quilting article

Another article for today concerns how to name a quilt. You put many hours of loving work into a quilt. It deserves a name. Sometimes a name may be had before starting a quilt. Sometimes a name is born as you are quilting. Other times the quilt may have to be completed before receiving a name.

Name A Quilt

Take time and thought to name a quilt. Naming your quilt before or after your quilting project is important. It is critical for identification especially if you enter your quilts into shows. The given name of the quilt will remain forever.

There are quilt instructions for preparing labels, but no instructions on how to name a quilt. Have you given much thought and an appropriate amount of time to name your creation?

The quilt label will contain the name of the quilt, the date it was made, and your name or signature. If your quilt is a gift, you would also include “made for”. Certain situations may require including your city, state, and country. Perhaps a special message will be necessary.

There are quilt instructions which recommend the label be made on a separate piece of cloth with cross-stitching, embroidery, or another favorite stitching technique or scripted with permanent fabric ink then stitched to the backside of the quilt or sewn directly on one of the quilt blocks or on the quilt border.

When you name a quilt it will have value.  It needs to be a good name.

How to name a quilt with an example:

  • Characters in the quilt – Elephant train
  • The color – The green forest
  • Story line – Baby’s adventure
  • Number of blocks – 5 blocks to Hampton Street
  • Memory – My favorite summer
  • Special occasion – Our wedding
  • An incident – Spilt milk

The list can become very lengthy as your imagination opens different name categories. The quilt, like a boat, is never renamed.

Where to find names:

  • Draw from memories
  • Use logical thinking
  • Fantasy
  • 5 senses of hearing, tasting, seeing, touching, and smell
  • Sixth or spiritual sense or awareness
  • From the quilting fabric, style, color, designs, texture

One of my quilts is named “My Conversations at Tea Time”. The name of the quilt came from recalling a meeting with friends and family for a cup of tea. Should you see the quilt the name is very descriptive and you would also recall a similar meeting with your friends?

After seeing the quilt, the name will remain in your memory. It will remain because everyone has conversations. You may not be a tea drinker, but you are familiar with this beverage.  A visual cue was implanted in the brain before and later reinforced after seeing the quilt. Once you name a quilt, the name never changes.

What is the purpose of naming your quilt?

  • For sale
  • For a gift
  • Insurance identification
  • Winning ribbons and awards
  • Filing system
  • In case of loss or theft
  • In memory of
  • Company name and logo
  • Signature name and logo

The name identifies the quilt. Regardless of where the quilt lives, it has an identity.

New quilting article

I have written many other articles on quilting. Many of these articles are located by going to Ezine articles.com. Type in the author's name which is Tricia Deed and select your area of interest.

Here is one article which may interest you.

Crazy Quilt Needlework

Have you been to the threads department lately? There are many new choices. Crazy quilt needlework with the new thread colors and texture variety will embellish or add the finishing touches to any quilt. Silk and embroidery threads are still the most popular or first choice threads.

Before shopping have an idea as to how you may want to embellish the crazy quilt. Your questions will concern what types of stitching can be used. My answer is to start with what you know.

Are you familiar and experienced with these stitching methods to use for your crazy quilt needlework?

  • Cross stitching
  • Outline embroidery
  • Crewel embroidery
  • Silk ribbon stitchery
  • Punch needle embroidery

Use any of these stitching methods listed and any other methods which are familiar to you. Each category has much to offer in stitching styles and uses. Work with one or several stitching techniques.

The needlework involved in decorative stitching is similar to the final paint strokes which an artist uses to refine their work of art. The artist works with paint. The quilter works with threads.

Cross stitching is great for making a label for stitching names, dates, special occasions or events and the signature of the quilting artist who made the crazy quilt. Or perhaps there is a poem, quotation, or special message to emboss.

If poems or special messages are long and wordy or you have a special signature, you may choose to write in calligraphy style. Use a fine point pen and permanent washable ink.

Crazy quilt fabrics contain people, animals, abstract, and flowers and we want to emphasize these objects by doing outline embroidery. For one of my crazy quilt needlework projects I thought it appropriate to use a small stemming stitch.

I work with fancy or bridal fabrics and use metallic threads to add luxury and glamour. On cotton, rayon thread seems to add a bit of soft glamorous accents.

The satin embroidery stitch is used often in crazy quilts as it adds a raised dimension to leaves, flower petals, bird wings, and any number of objects. The type of thread used will add reality to the item or enhance elegance and luxury.

Imagine using these other methods to embellish your quilts:

  • Fabric dyeing
  • Textile painting
  • Staining with tea or coffee
  • Photo transfer
  • Ink jet printing

Make the most of your imagination to work with yarn, cord, leather, plastic, and narrow ribbons as other stitching garnishes. Outlining with any of these materials will add other dimensions of interest.

Experiment and play with the different sizes of ribbons creating small flowers, stars, and abstract designs. Weave ribbon in and out through lace holes to create beauty and attention.

Leisure Income

You have been thinking about how to make additional income with your hobby projects. These projects have been occupying your recreational and leisure time. However, as you review your storage area there is now the need to consider how to sell these creations for your leisure income.

This is an interesting dilemma. If you worked in a toy factory you would be considered an employee earning a salary. But when you make toys in your home it is said that you are performing a leisure activity.

However, it does not take long for the toy storage bins to become full. Friends, relatives, neighbors, and non-profit organizations have enjoyed your free giveaways. With the current economy you are considering selling your wonderful toys.

Now your hobby becomes a business or leisure income. Part time hours or full time employment will become a personal decision.

Leisure income may also come from your other arts and crafts interests. If you are very active and skilled in sports your sport activity may be considered for sale.

Do you love pets? Pet care, such as dog sitting, animal photography and much more are excellent leisure income sources.

Age is not a factor; working hours will be of your choosing. As your hobbies are considered for home based business or as a business opportunity many of your decisions will be of a personal choosing.

Working a home based business is much more economical because of the low overhead. If you wish a larger business and you have the best location, location, location, and the financial capital for backing until profits start to come in then a business opportunity will be your path.

I wish you success for either leisure income choice.

Putting – A Golf Swing Needing An Angel

Putting – A Golf Swing Needing An Angel

There are many golf swings to learn and the most important is putting. Putting appears easy to do, but you better have a sense of humor and a great deal of patience because there are days when it seems the hole is determined to do a hot potato dance and no golf ball will enter. Therefore, putting is an golf swing needing an angel to keep the devilment of your anger subdued.

Try this physical technique to get started:

  1. Grip – palms face each other and allow arms to swing in a triangle formation
  2. Stance – heels are shoulder width or closer, be comfortable
  3. Body is square to the target line
  4. Flex knees
  5. Eyes directly over ball
  6. Treat putts as striking straight, but place the golf ball 2” to the right of the hole

Putters to consider are:

  1. 35” Standard
  2. 42” Belly utter
  3. 46” Long putter

It becomes your choice as to which length you wish to use. To execute be in a comfortable stance, visualize a triangle with the width of the triangle in line with your shoulders and the point of the triangle pointing to the grip. Let the putter swing from side to side like a pendulum, but do not exceed shoulder width. Stay within the triangle.

The next steps include:

  1. Waggle which means get into a comfortable stance and balance
  2. Grip
  3. Mentally prepare – Visualize your imaginary target line, but place your ball about 2” away from the target line. The shortest distance from point A to point B is a curved line. Have you noticed how the golf ball curves into the hole? By placing the ball 2” from the target line you will notice the ball traveling straight, curve away from the target line towards the hole, then drop into the hole.

How to improve:

Do practice drills for both your short and long putts. Work on speed and distance. There are different types of grips. Try a variety of methods until you find what works for you.

Sand Pit And Other Golf Course Hazards

A while back I wrote about hitting the golf balls into the lake because my friend had gotten frustrated with me as to how to hit the golf ball. It was great fun. But what do you do when playing golf and you hit the ball into the lake, or the sand pit and other golf course hazards?

What is a golf hazard area?

This is an area which is marked with colored stakes indicting a no golfing area because of hazards of ponds, lakes, streams, or an ocean. Other hazards would be private property, construction, and golf cart pathways. There are also point penalties for playing in these areas.

When your golf ball drops near the edge of a small pond or a stream or in the water, place your ball as close as possible to where the ball entered the water, but away from the intended target. Take aim and try again. Add one stroke penalty to your score.

If the ball landed in deep water, use another ball. If it landed in the shallow end, do not try to hit the ball. Leave it, no need to get wet or stir up the pebbles or the mud.

What do you do when your ball drops into a lateral hazard?

If it drops within the red staked area measure two club lengths from where the ball dropped, yet, away from the intended target. Do not remove leaves, twigs, or other earthly obstacles. It is recommended that you see at least two thirds of the ball before attempting to hit it.

If the ball is not visible to where you have an opportunity to hit it, get another ball and drop it. Allow added distance to be away from the intended target. Add one penalty point to your score.

White stakes mark out-of-bound areas. Avoid this situation. You cannot play from the flower garden of the home owner, it is tee time.

Should your ball land in the cart pathway or in an area under construction pick up your ball, drop into another position with added distance away from the intended target. No penalty against your score in these situations.

Do you like playing in the sand?

Oops, you landed your ball in the bunker? Do not pick up the ball and move it, you will have to strike it out with your golf club of choice. The bunker or the sand pit and other golf course hazards will give you challenges. The bunker or sand pit hazard is a very common hazard for golfers to overcome.

Did the ball end in the rough?

Utilize your abilities and talents. Notice the direction of the grass growth and use your favorite iron which gets you to the freeway again.

What if the ball is caught in the woods along the freeway?

There are 3 options:

  1. Locate the ball and hit it onto the fairway

  1. Pick up the ball and move it two golf club lengths and take a penalty or pick it up and place it where you had hit it and take yardage lost.

  1. Look for five minutes. After which, the ball is considered lost. Take a penalty as you are able to go back where you took your last stroke and try again.

Have you wondered why golf shoes need cleats?

The cleats for the golfer are important because:

  • The cleats help to maintain body support, stability and allow you to grip and control your golf swing. There is a lot of strength and power in a golf swing.

  • Cleats are designed to provide better traction for staying grounded in your balanced position to make longer and more accurate shots. Try hitting the golf ball on wet grass with a pair of canvas shoes and feel how to slip, slide or pivot like a spinning dime wobbling about and where did the ball land?

  • Manufacturers have changed the construction of the golf shoe to meet the needs and standards of the golf game equipment requirements. There have been changes and or advancements in natural and synthetic products.

These construction changes include:

  • Comfort for the golfing athlete
  • More fashionable styles and colors
  • There are choices of leather or synthetic fabrics in the construction of the shoe
  • Shoe ties or adjustment straps are available
  • Anatomical foot designs for better support
  • Orthotic inserts to reduce foot fatigue
Washable inserts and easy exterior cleaning
  • Breathable corrections in both leather and synthetic fabrics
  • Ventilation holes
  • Additives for mildew and odor forming bacteria
  • Arch or no arch supports depending on your preferences
  • Refinement in the construction of the heel and toe of the shoe
  • Waterproofing

If you have not done so, you may also want to consider golf shoe footwear for any feet problems which you may be having. People have found comfort for nerve damage, hammer toes, and post surgery.

Footwear for golf which includes both shoes and sandals seem to go beyond the game of golf.

Best Dog Food-Your Choice

The best dog food for your pet is the food which your dog will eat, enjoy, and keep him healthy and happy for a long and prosperous good doggie lifestyle. There are many quality foods and food brands to select for your pet. It is your choice if you wish to feed commercially prepared foods, home cooked foods, or raw foods.

As a pet owner you have the responsibility to help maintain good health feeding your pet the best nutritional foods which you can afford. With domestication our pets seemingly are exposed to many diseases which humans get. Many of these diseases are related to the types of food or food preparation.

You need to be alert to the age and life cycles of your pet and its needs. If a new puppy has been introduced into your home, make an appointment with your veterinarian for a complete examination. Follow the advice of any food or nutritional supplements recommended by your vet during the growing years of your puppy.

When your puppy undergoes a health exam it is to inform you of any health abnormalities your puppy may have. If there are health problems which require special nutrition, your vet will inform you about the best dog food to help restore health.

Other conditions needing consideration for special canine diets include:

  1. Is your dog pregnant, active, overweight, under weight, or diabetic?
  2. Do you have an adult or older pet?
  3. Does he have allergies, malfunctioning kidney or liver, or heart disease?

It appears many pet owners have their personal theories as to the best foods for their four legged pets. You probably have your own philosophy as well or currently shopping for better methods or foods to maintain the health of your dogs and cats.

The different philosophies are:

  1. Commercial-dry, dehydrated, semi-moist, and wet
  2. Natural
  3. Organic
  4. Raw

Commercial dog foods are produced by animal feed manufacturers and these companies do scientific research and blend nutrients for both normal canines and canines with medical problems.

Natural foods include foods which you would eat at your meal table; the foods which you purchase at grocery stores, outdoor markets, farmers markets and your local butcher. These are foods which you would feed yourself and family members.

Organic are those vegetables or animals raised on land or in water which does not use or contain manmade chemicals, insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, and pesticides.

Your meal preparation responsibilities:

  • Commercial – proper storage and serve as is
  • Natural and organic – you do the cooking
  • Raw – careful selection and refrigeration or freezing

If you are like me, you are probably exploring different nutritional menu planning to discover the best dog food for your pet. Consider home cooked meals. Visit the pet section at http://www.Infotrish.com and review Dog Food Secrets.

Needles and threads for embroidery

Here is a handy chart for needles and threads. Sometimes you just forget what is the best tool to use for hand or machine stitchery.

Types of threads to use in quilting and embroidery:

  • Cotton – cotton fabrics
  • Quilting cotton – has a slick wrap around cotton for ease in stitching layers of fabrics
  • Polyester – stretchy fabrics
  • All purpose – for all fabrics
  • Fine cotton or silk thread- best for delicate fabrics
  • Silk threads - stretch fabrics
  • Metallic – great for decorating
  • Rayon – embroidery. Excellent for machine embroidery.

Types of needles:

  • Sharp - for cotton fabrics because it will penetrate the fiber strand
  • Ball point – for synthetic fibers because it separates and stitches between the strands of fiber
  • Metallic – the design of the needle eye allows the thread to pass with less breakage

Response to Michael

Michael Emerald

Thank you for your agreeable comments on hobbies and interests. Overall life would be very boring if one did not pursue their personal interests or their hobbies. Pleasure puts a song in our hearts and makes our day lighter.

If I may ask, what hobbies or interests do you participate in?

Finding Hobbies

Finding hobbies or recreation and leisure activities involves doing what you love and enjoy. Most people know what hobby they would like to pursue, but what if you do not know?

Think back to when you were a child and you had a wish. If that wish is still unfulfilled, would you like to know how you are able to pursue it today?

Perhaps your childhood wish and fun interest was to travel around the world and you feel denied because you were never able do so and you do not see how it can be accomplished.

Paths to explore to make your wish possible

  1. Lack of funds should never be an excuse for not fulfilling a hobby interest. Work in the industry. No job is too small to meet your goals.
  2. The world of dreams and fantasy make wishes real.
  3. Finding hobbies is putting your curiosity to work. Ask questions from those who share your interests.

How can you travel?

  1. Mentally travel via books, magazines, and maps
  2. Travel videos and DVDs
  3. Visit airports, train terminals, shipping docks, and bus stops
  4. Become a traveling companion

***Make a list of your talents and skills

This list is the most important visual aid for finding “now” and future hobbies.

An error which I have observed is people trying to select hobby ideas from a stereotyped list or to have a friend pull them into their interests. In both cases they have been disappointed. This hobbies or recreational and leisure activities list must be born from your brain with its ability to create and imagine.

Another disappointment is to butterfly from one hobby to another. It will become emotionally, mentally, physically, financially, and time expensive.

The wish hobbies list needs to be your personal favorites. It is this list which will start to make your childhood fantasy a reality.

Your hobbies and interests list may include sports, arts and crafts, pets, recreational and leisure activities Hobbies can be used for personal pleasure or become a home based business or a business opportunity. Finding hobbies for either purpose will open a world of pleasure or business opportunities.

Start your adventure of finding hobbies at http://www.Infotrish.com for a collection of hobbies for recreational and leisure interests or hobbies which become money making opportunities or home businesses.

How to Assemble a Patchwork Quilt with Lace Appliques

How to assemble a patchwork quilt with lace appliqués:

  1. Measure the size of he bed for bedspread length and width and determine the size of the individual squares or rectangles which would be the topside of the quilt.
  2. Decide how you want to connect these plain squares and rectangles. Will you want to connect with sashes between the squares or just connect squares with straight stitching?
  3. Arrange the different lace pieces on the individual squares and rectangles to determine their most attractive placement.
  4. Safety pin each piece of lace into desired position. Stitch each lace appliqué starting from the center and work outward in order that each piece will lie flat. Embroidery stitches may be used to enhance or repair areas of the lace.
  5. The fastening threads of the lace and the embroidery stitching will be the actual quilting and as a result will eliminate the overall quilting which would normally be done.
  6. After the lace appliqués have been stitched in all the blocks, connect all blocks and rectangles to complete topside of quilt. Think about this for a moment…if you decided to just stitch the blocks together and the outcome is too plain, you may wish to embroider over the seams for an added luxury or complimentary finish.
  7. Attach your border which has also been trimmed with lace. The laced border will add elegance to the finished design.
  8. Line the top fabric with quilting batting, add the back fabric. Connect these final sheets of fabric by stitching in the ditch. The lace pieces will stand on their own beauty; therefore, overall quilting will be unnecessary.

As you think about how to bring about this memory patchwork quilt, but still have doubts, consider making a sample mini quilt before attempting this large project. Your time will not have been wasted sewing a mini quilt sampler as it can be used as a wall hanging or a pillow cover.

What is the speed of a golf ball in flight?

Beginners 90 to 100 miles per hour
Intermediate 100 to 110 miles per hour
Advanced and professionals 110 plus miles per hour

What Is The Best Price To Pay For Golfballs?

Price of golf balls equals performance levels.

$12 per dozen is great for beginners and novices.

$30 a dozen are preferred by intermediate level

$45 dollars or more for a dozen is for the advanced or professionals.

These are average prices, shop for the best price you can get.

Types of Golf Balls To Better Your Game

Most golfers play with a two piece design. It has a rubber core center and one outer wrap of plastic or rubber. This design is excellent for men, women, and children. The ball will shoot straighter, and it has less spin so when you hit a slice or a hook it does not look too bad. The ball is designed for durability and distance.

As an advanced golfer you would probably prefer a ball that has been wrapped three times or a hybrid design. This ball has a rubber core, covered by a layer of plastic or rubber and then a third layer wrap. It is hard in consistency and will allow for better performance. It will travel longer distances, and has less spin in the hands of golfer with good control.

The professionals play with design having been wrapped three or possibly four times to get the high swing speed and the drop and stop action.

In case you should ask, if the beginner, intermediate, or an advanced player chooses to play with a golf ball used by professional golfers you will get the distance, however, if you lack control the golf ball will slice and hook badly or extremely.

Toxic Dog Foods

Dear dog lovers.  Here is a list of foods which are harmful to dogs and should never be given as a snack or mixed with their regular foods.

I find it hard to remember everything and a list can be a real saver.

  • Alcohol
  • Chocolates
  • Caffeine
  • Macadamia nuts
  • Grapes
  • Raisins
  • Salt, sugar, artificial sugars
  • Flour
  • Yeast
  • Corn on the cob
  • Onions and garlic
  • Mushrooms
  • Nutmeg
  • Avocados
  • Dairy products

It needs repeating that chocolate is toxic to dogs because it contains a chemical called Theo bromine.

Last year in my vet's office there was a special poster available in the waiting room for the public to read.

There is a new garden mulch product which contains Theo bromine. The mulch product supposedly retards cats from entering your garden and dogs are said not to eat it. It has been discovered dogs are dying from this mulch. The poster indicated that death can occur within a few hours or about eighteen hours after ingestion.

I thought I should make it public just in case this product is still available.

I do write many articles about pets and if you wish visit Ezines.com and review some of my other articles.

Is Your Pet Malnourished?

Most of us realize that a dog cannot be sustained on any one single food source; variety is essential. A malnourished dog will usually show its ribs, have diarrhea, hair loss and it looks like it is starving. When we happen on this situation it is usually an animal which has been abused, lost or stolen and is desperately seeking food.

With these types of symptoms the vet will probably find fleas, ticks, and a disease depending on the length of time and stress that the animal has tried to survive.

However, when we see our personal pet having poor nutritional problems we get very concerned. After all we are feeding and caring for our pet. Malnutrition is caused from lack of proper nutrition from our food sources. You may want to consider looking at another feeding philosophy in order to have your dog live a healthier and satisfying life.

Your dog may not be doing well on commercial dog food. Has your vet recommended another type of food? And why is your vet recommending another food? There are reports that many of the commercial dog foods may not be a product that is healthy for your dog.

For some dogs dry food may be like eating a sugared cereal. It may taste good, but in the long run it is not a good nutritional food source. Read labels on the packaging.

Some dog foods contain mostly grain with some vitamins and minerals and sprayed with fats and meat flavoring. The dog is attracted to the odor and taste but is not receiving essential nutrients.

Would you prefer eating a slice of steak or a slice of bread coated with fat and artificial steak seasoning?

My dog was experiencing hair loss and two different types of skin problems, and ear infections. I had to do something. I looked at two different philosophies - raw meat and home cooked meals. Today I do both and the health of my dog is very good. This year he will be having his 14th birthday in August.

It has been about five years since I changed his nutrition and it has been worth it.

You may want to discover how home cooked foods can make a difference. Review Dog Food Secrets at http://8ebfe306xl03761zr5z0hnijzg.hop.clickbank.net/

Allergies and Malnutrition - Are you aware?

oAre you aware most dry commercial foods have a shelf life of 12 to 18 months? Oils turn rancid. Fresh foods spoil much quicker. Sometimes your pet can let you know by not eating its food because of taste or something else.

My dog is allergic to rice bran. Brown rice may be excellent, but the allergy symptoms remain. Be alert and become a detective to analyze if a food ingredient, chemical or preservative is not tolerated by your pet.

Is your dog malnourished? Does it seem that each time he enters into a new cycle or becomes a year of two older his food and nutritional needs seem to change? It may be correct to note your dog is experiencing unbalanced nutrition.

Most of us realize that a dog cannot be sustained on any one single food source; variety is essential. A malnourished dog will usually show its ribs, have diarrhea, hair loss and it looks like it is starving. When we happen on this situation we do something about it. This is usually an animal which has been abused, lost or stolen and is desperately seeking food.

There are pet owners who lend confidence to pet foods approved by the Association of American Feed Control Officials (‘AAFC’) as this organization approves of products meeting minimum basic needs and containing complete and balanced nutrition.

In the home you control food preparation. We have all heard the expression we are what we eat and we can see our pet experiencing the results of those eating habits. People are very concerned and are looking for alternatives for healthy pet food.

This is an alternative plan for healthy pet food and learning how to select appropriate foods for your four legged friend. Click here for more information.

In case you are curious I feed my dog both raw and home cooked foods. I feel that this gives him a healthy balance. This August he will be 14 years old. I think we are doing pretty good to take care of his allergies and at worse to avoid malnutrition.

A Note From Tricia Deed

Hobbies are the life blood of every human being. The hobby which we have an interest in will fill our recreation and leisure hours with much pleasure.

Our hobbies will hold our attention and our energy. Not only do we enjoy and have a great deal of fun with our hobbies for recreation and leisure, but we are also able to determine if our interest in arts and crafts e.g. painting, making jewelry, and quilting, sports (golf is extremely popular), pets with their pet care including nutrition and supplements, and much more may enable us to earn a living for our gifted talents.

Many hobbies become our careers.

Our gifted talents will open doors to different business opportunities or to working at home in a home based business. We can choose to use our arts and crafts working for others or becoming a business owner.

It is safe to say that our hobby defines us.

Tricia Deed, through the web pages of Infotrish is bringing those hobbies which so often become business opportunities. These hobbies can be used by children, men, and women.

Wow! You read this. I would like to hear about your hobby interests.

Do you like painting portraits?

Painting portraits is a new hobby for me at this time. It started with my mother needing therapy and here we are a few months later drawing and painting portraits with some excellent skills.

We do not paint like the great masters, but we are having a great time. We both feel that by the Spring of this year we will have enough paintings to enter an arts and crafts show in our community and start selling our inventory.

It was never intended that we would make this a part time business, but we do love doing it.

That is how most hobbies turn out. We discover talents that we never knew we had and lo and behold it becomes a passion.

That is why I designed a hobby webpage which introduces hobbies which can remain as hobbies or can become businesses.

Quilting is Fun

Quilting is fun.

It can be a loner activity, if you wish, but most people like to get together as a group and work on a quilt. Now, that can be a weekly or monthly social life.

Each meeting is filled with happy people sewing, talking, laughing, exchanging quilting ideas and sewing methods, sharing a bit of gossip, and later having a cup of coffee and a slice of home baked cake which welcomes an exchange of dessert recipes. Is that fun or what?

Do you have a quilting story to tell or would like to share quilting ideas or comments.

I would like to hear from you.

Are You Ready to Sell Your Quilts?

Are you doubting yourself or are uncertain if you are good enough to start a quilting business?

This list should convince you to get started:

  1. Your sewing skills are excellent.
  2. Your quilting designs are desirable.
  3. People outside of your family members have made positive comments about your quilts.
  4. You have had many offers to purchase your completed quilts.
  5. There are other people who have asked you to make a quilt from their precious bundles of memory fabrics. This is a lot of trust. Those family memories are very precious and cannot be replaced. What a wonderful person you are to others who place their valuable memory assets into your hands. Product quality is important as a satisfied customer will let everybody know how great your quilts are.

It is for these reasons that you are considering sewing quilts to earn money part time. It can be done because you will be setting aside those work hours that will not interfere with family or social gatherings that you enjoy.

Develop Core Strength in Lower Abdominals

Golfers...here is a simple exercise to help develop core strength in your lower abdominals.

Doing this exercise will correct spinal alignment and give power to your drive.

  1. Lie flat on your back on an exercise mat
  2. Raise both legs upward
  3. Extend your right arm above your head while extending your left leg forward to full extension
  4. Return your right arm and left leg into starting piosition then extend your left arm above your head while extending your right leg forward to full extension
  5. Alternate this pattern

You will probably move slowly at first because of the needed coordination, but before long it will be mechanical.

You will feel the burn...

Word of advice: Do a few repetions to start. As you build your core strength do more reps.

Quilters of Baby Products

There has been a buzz about fire retardant fabrics among people who quilt. And for those who operate a quilting business there is much concern if they are responsible for a quilt catching fire.

The possiblity of an infant or a young child being burnt in a quilt is usually a a rare incident: however, there are people who are making their quilts from 100% cotton and 100% cotton fill which are labeled and sold as fire retardant or fire repellent materials.

The scare is the polyester batting fill and other synthetics.

The problem with the synthetics is that the cloth will burn into the skin making matters worse for both the victim and the medical staff. Cotton will flame into ash. Yes, it will burn, but it will not stick or cling to the burning area.

As a business you may wish to check with an attorney for other precautions.

Happy 4th of July to Everyone

Freedom for America is why we celebrate the 4th of July. I wish everyone a pleasant day of celebrating this holiday. A day to remember our loved ones who have served our country with their lives or their health.

As we move about the malls, going to the beach, visiting entertainment parks, laying back enjoying a family day at home or at picnic grounds. We need to remember that the red, white, and blue paid dearly allows us to have these wonderful days to enjoy our friends and family, and the many July 4th celebrations.

We conclude our day with gala firework displays from our individual collection of fire works or at outdoor sponsored events.

Our hearts sleep peacefully.

I would appreciate your comments

Tricia Deed is working to bring to Infotrish hobbies which become businesses in the home or in a traditional way.

These are the next three hobbies that I am considering to install in my website of http://www.Infotrish.com

This is my mini-survey to know what would be the most needed information.

I would appreciate your feedback- comments or questions- each will help.

Here goes...would you have an interest in a dog bakery business, a scrapbooking business, or a fish farm business?

These three products fit the criteria of being hobbies and at the same time they are hobbies which becomes home based businesses or business opportunities.

I would appreciate your comments.

Thank you,

Tricia Deed
