Hobbies are the life blood of every human being. The hobby which we have an interest in will fill our recreation and leisure hours with much pleasure. Are there too many lists of hobbies to choose from? Make a personal list of who you are. What do you like to do? What do you not like to do? What do you love to do? And what you will not do. Okay, a friend, a family member, or perhaps yourself said "Get a hobby". Then your answer is "what hobby?" If you have never had a hobby or actually stopped to think about what makes something a hobby then you are kind of stuck. I would define a hobby as doing something that you love to do. You do not have expectations of any kind. For example, perhaps you like to fish. Nowadays, there is no need to fish for food survival. The grocery store has fish which you can purchase. Even on a bad day of fishing you will still enjoy the activity. Whether you consider this activity as a hobby or not; in truth it is. It is a hobby because it fits the description you love doing it and have no expectations. Each moment is enjoyed. You can analyze why you enjoy fishing. Make a list. Your list might include: fresh air, quiet, relaxing, and so on. As I talk with different people, it is interesting to me that what one person takes for granite as part of their lifestyle; is actually someone else's hobby. A hobby whereby they need to go out of there way to be able to do. To clarify the above sentence. You may have a lake in your backyard and you fish everyday with no thought as it is your lifestyle. Someone else may have to drive 50 miles or more to get to a lakesite for their hobby of fishing. What hobby do you enjoy? |
