It is a new near year requiring new thinking for a new beginning. I realize the world is seemingly unstable, however, pull up your boot straps, knock the dust from your eyes and take the imitative and the time to see clearly. The artist within you is your passion. Let this be the year that your passion comes alive. Develop your art for personal or financial survival. Work your passion. Love is very uplifting. You have been thinking about how to make additional income with your hobby projects. These projects have been occupying your recreational and leisure time. However, as you review your storage area there is now the need to consider how to sell these creations for your leisure income. This is an interesting dilemma. If you worked in a toy factory you would be considered an employee earning a salary. But when you make toys in your home it is said that you are performing a leisure activity. However, it does not take long for the toy storage bins to become full. Friends, relatives, neighbors, and non-profit organizations have enjoyed your free giveaways. With the current economy you are considering selling your wonderful toys. Now your hobby becomes a business or leisure income. Part time hours or full time employment will become a personal decision. Leisure income may also come from your other arts and crafts interests. If you are very active and skilled in sports your sport activity may be considered for sale. Do you love pets? Pet care, such as dog sitting, animal photography and much more are excellent leisure income sources. Age is not a factor; working hours will be of your choosing. As your hobbies are considered for home based business or as a business opportunity many of your decisions will be of a personal choosing. Working a home based business is much more economical because of the low overhead. If you wish a larger business and you have the best location, location, location, and the financial capital for backing until profits start to come in then a business opportunity will be your path. Painting portraits is a new hobby for me at this time. It started with my mother needing therapy and here we are a few months later drawing and painting portraits with some excellent skills. We do not paint like the great masters, but we are having a great time. We both feel that by the Spring of this year we will have enough paintings to enter an arts and crafts show in our community and start selling our inventory. It was never intended that we would make this a part time business, but we do love doing it. That is how most hobbies turn out. We discover talents that we never knew we had and lo and behold it becomes a passion. Are you doubting yourself or are uncertain if you are good enough to start a quilting business? This list should convince you to get started: - Your sewing skills are excellent.
- Your quilting designs are desirable.
- People outside of your family members have made positive comments about your quilts.
- You have had many offers to purchase your completed quilts.
- There are other people who have asked you to make a quilt from their precious bundles of memory fabrics. This is a lot of trust. Those family memories are very precious and cannot be replaced. What a wonderful person you are to others who place their valuable memory assets into your hands. Product quality is important as a satisfied customer will let everybody know how great your quilts are.
It is for these reasons that you are considering sewing quilts to earn money part time. It can be done because you will be setting aside those work hours that will not interfere with family or social gatherings that you enjoy. Why are you depriving people of your wonderful quilting talents? Paying for your talents is a way of saying you are worth your labors in exchange for your customer's labors. People forget that behind the payment for the quilt is a person who has worked eight, ten or twenty hours or more to be able to purchase what you are offering. Start your quilting business to earn extra money from home with your wonderful quilting magic. Earn an hourly wage of $50 to $100. When not charging for your services by the hour, sell your quilts for a price that will bring monetry satisfaction for your work. Do not be scared to ask for the money. Money is a commodity representation for goods rendered. Thank goodness the day of being paid with chickens and goats are over! Money is so much easier to handle. Making money with quilting is a can do. Use your quilting passion to build a quilting business from your home. A secondary income from quilting is selling other quilting services and supplies. Your biggest obstacle to starting a quilting business is your self doubts. Speaking from experience, start a business when you are ready because it is you that will make or break a business. Your desire and motivation with sound business decisions will weather any storm. If you have never owned a business but you have raised children; there are no differences. - A business is born
- It will need nuturing during the infant years
- It will need guidance and knowledge during its gowing years
- Minor or major problems may arise during the teenage years, but you will survive the rough times
- Business product revamping and change of employees may change as your business enters a new category in market or growth changes similar to a child attending college
- Then your business graduates into maintenance
Your business is a lifestime career until you end it. You control every aspects of your business except for those occassional interruptions from the environment. |

I have met many people who have experienced their hobby becoming a business opportunity. And if you are anything like me having broad interests and are willing to do many things for yourself. It is discovered that many hobbies can be use in self employment or in conjunction with your current job or in your career. I am sure you have noticed or perhaps recalled how on the job interview form there are questions referring to your off-time interests or hobbies. Employers are interested in how your personal interests will be of benefit to your employment. Your hobbies are important as they are very much a part of your lifestyle. |
